Day one: establish a Baku base
Keep your arrival day proportionate to the flight schedule. Confirm the airport collection and city hotel first, then decide how much sightseeing remains realistic. A short city introduction can be more useful than a late arrival followed immediately by another long road journey.
Before the northern leg, gather the addresses for every hotel and decide which bags travel with you. If leaving belongings in Baku, confirm storage directly with the hotel and collect a clear receipt or agreement where appropriate. Include the bags you retain when discussing the vehicle choice; passenger numbers alone do not describe the usable space needed.
Day two: make Quba a genuine visit
Choose one cultural priority around Quba instead of adding every place named on a regional map. Red Village and the Museum of Mountain Jews provide a distinct heritage focus. The Azerbaijan Tourism Board’s Red Village guide explains the museum’s context; check current visiting arrangements separately.
Agree the amount of time allowed for the visit, any guide appointment and the onward hotel. Decide whether the night is in Quba, Qusar or Shahdag before pricing the journey. Each choice changes the next morning’s starting point and can introduce an additional transfer.
Day three: give Shahdag its own day
Reserve this day for the resort experience most important to your party. Skiing, a lesson, a sightseeing ride and a nearby village visit are separate choices with their own timing. Combining all of them can leave very little time to enjoy any one activity.
| Decision | Information to settle |
|---|---|
| Overnight base | Exact hotel and checkout arrangements |
| Main activity | Reporting point and realistic duration |
| Non-participants | Separate activity and shared meeting point |
| Evening destination | Same hotel or a confirmed onward journey |
Use the three-day Shahdag plan if you want a longer mountain stay instead of the Quba stop.
Day four: return around the real deadline
Choose a Baku city return or an airport transfer according to the next booking. A direct flight connection needs a more conservative plan than a flexible hotel arrival. Share the flight details and the airline’s reporting requirement before agreeing the final pickup.
Send the operator the full route as a sequence of dated legs, including sightseeing stops and local transfers. Ask which waiting periods and driver hours are included, and retain the accepted itinerary. Start with the transport checklist so that the four-day route is priced and organised as the trip you actually want, with separate time for heritage, the mountains and getting home.
